CARDS OF WONDERS BY PIERA LUISOLO, BEAUTIFUL DOMINOTERIES AND PAPIER PEINT

'Decorate cards' is a sincere act of love for the humble artistic area of 'papier peint' unfortunately never duly considered.
Through hard-working and passionate research, in 2008, Piera Luisolo, italian painter and engraver, she discovers a treasure in a small library in Turin: ligatures for books made of all kinds of fanciful pattern printed by hand and from various times and places. The artist, as possessed by all this 'gift of God', returned later to the library, bravely armed with scanners to document her discovery. And from there, Piera has wandered to bookstores, libraries and second-hand dealers across Europe, discovering the wonders of a lost art: the decorated papers, "les dominoteries".
Here are some pictures of the book, recently presented at "Salone del libro di Torino; the linked exhibition, which collects artifacts like plates, old and new cards, will be inaugurated on 23 May in Turin.
