BEAUTIFUL TEXTURES INTO INNOVATIVE FABRIC OF RITA PARNICZKY, X-RAY FABRIC

Rita Parniczky is an emerging textile designer, author of X-Ray Fabric, a unique material woven by hand.
Showing great innovation in traditional craft techniques, just six months after her graduation from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, Rita was given a commission by The Worshipful Company of Weavers and the Victoria & Albert Museum, which will soon will become part of the permanent collection of the V & A.
Having developed this new exceptional fabric, Rita continues to work with a deep interest testing materials and unusual ideas. Rita creates unique works of art and design collectibles.
Her particular weaving technique allows to construct fabrics which show the warp threads in its entirety. The result is a translucent material. Some layers and structures, that would otherwise remain hidden in normal tissues, are visible in this work. Concept very similar to x-ray film that shows details hidden in the body. From here, of course, the name X-Ray Fabric.
