INTRICATE SURFACES AND NATURAL MICROCOSMS IN BEAUTIFUL WORKS OF ANNIE WOODFORD

Annie Woodford is a wonderful artist, studied at the Royal College of Art in London, receiving a travel scholarship and graduating with a MA in Ceramics and Glass in 1983.
After that, she started to work also with printmaking, that it has become an integral part of her practice and that she continues to develop the medium alongside object making, using it to explore the themes and concerns fundamental to her work.
Shifting boundaries between science and metaphysics, rendering the pieces esoteric, obscure and ambiguous, and with a fascination with the concealed and the invisible has prompted her investigations into microscopy and the field of nano science - making the unseen seen.
Her work has qualities that reflect the intricacies of the natural world, elements that highlight its beauty and transience. Fragile, frangible, complex and complicated, with interestings and vibrating surfaces.
